Here's the radio show:
sCREENSHOTS:
Radio show flow
In order to make the show flow better in terms of pace and quality of the speakers, i cut out, (wherever possible) pauses between words being spoken and "umms" and "ahhs".
noise reduction - getting rid of a mobile phone sound
During the show, a mobile phone went off and thus forth it would be unprofessional to keep it. To remove it i did the following process so that there would be no more unintentional interruptions in the show.
NOISE REDUCTION - GETTING RID OF BACKGROUND HISS
Due to the room (in which we recorded the show) having noise in the background, i then had to do the following process to get rid of it all. This allows the radio show to be clean to listen to and sounds professional and to meet broadcast standards.
making audio sound like a phone call
In order to widen my knowledge of what is possible in Adobe Audition, i scripted a phone call with a listener in order to be able to learn how to add the correct effect onto the specific clip.
1. apply the rack effect in fft filter to the selected audio clip
EXPORTING THE FINISHED PROJECT
To finish my outcome 4 project, i lastly needed to export it from audition so i can put some form of video over the top and then upload it to youtube to put onto my blog.
1. GO TO: FILE -> EXPORT -> MULTITRACK mixdown -> entire session
EVALUATION
As this one project was built up with 4 outcomes that took just over 1 month to complete, i feel like i had lots of time to do my research for my radio show which ultimately helped in the finished result. I think this because i learnt how to structure radio talk shows and then i implemented some of the techniques (that i thought worked best) into my radio show. Luckily for me, being on a film making course, it was easy to find passionate students who'd seen the film and were also willing to talk about it and invest their time into the show. However, i did feel like i should have spent more of the month (that i had to complete the task) working on my Adobe Audition skills as i often found myself spending a lot of time figuring out exactly how to use some of the features within the software. I know now that next time i am required to work with audition, i will spend more time in the build up to the finished product learning how to use more features of the software so that i may have an advanced basic knowledge on how to use it. From this unit as a whole though, i know that i am incredibly more capable at using audition, as this project challenged my skills in the software and allowed me to learn for myself within it. If i were to work with audition and/or advanced audio and/or radio again, i would spend more time finding nicer music beds and vox pops for the show as i feel these really add to a radio program and if i lacked the most anywhere, i feel it was with the quality of the foley sounds i picked. Overall, this unit was a great experience and really did allow me to learn audio (something i didn't know barely anything about before) efficiently and in detail and it's a great skill i can have for life now.
