Our report (toni+greg)
The target audience for BBC Radio 6 Music are listener's who enjoy music and are between the ages of 25 and 44. In comparison to the rest of the BBC's radio stations, it is the more digital and archive station. They have an extremely wide range of genre when it comes to it's music.
As it's a part of the many BBC radio stations this means it is not a commercial station, it is however, (just like all BBC radio stations) a national network and can be found on digital radio, the internet and the television. It is, as of now, the most popular digital radio station. This can only be down to one thing: the content of the radio station;
BBC Radio 6 is a digital station, being aired on DAB radio. This means it has a stronger frequency than analogue radio, sending stronger waves to avoid interference. More radio stations are moving over to digital because of this reason, meaning it is slowly pushing analogue radio off the map.
There are various differences between BBC radio and Commercial radio but some of the main differences are that the BBC seem to believe in providing the audience with national or even worldwide news (depending to circumstances), guests and a high repetition of songs. Commercial/local radio stations tend to have more music heavy shows with as little interruptions as possible with exception to CFM radio it seems. The BBC tends to be more mature and encourages personality with their presenters: Scott Mills. The same can not be said for "Robbie D" which is the main morning presenter for CFM. The exceptions to this statement would be Nick Grimshaw on BBC radio 1 as he was employed by the BBC to attract a younger audience.
